COCHIN SHIPYARD

CSL is the largest shipbuilding and maintenance facility in India. Its services include building platform vessels and double-hulled oil tankers. Indigenous aircraft carriers for the Indian Navy are built in the Shipyard.CSL was incorporated as a Government of India company in 1972. Its first phase of facilities came online in 1982. The yard has facilities to build vessels up to 1.25 million tons, the largest in India since 2012. The Shipyard trains graduate engineers in Marine Engineering. Almost a hundred students are trained every year. In 1981 the first ship named MV Rani Padmini was rolled out of CSL.

From 1982 CSL has been offering ship repair services. It has undertaken upgrades and repairs of all types of ships including ship for the Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard, Fisheries and Cochin Port Trust. CSL has been receiving major major maintenance and upgrade orders from ONGC.
