NUMMA OONU
‘Numma Oonu’, a free meal programme, launched by the Ernakulam district administration envisages hunger-free society. This project is implemented in association with the district unit of Kerala Hotel and Restaurant Association and Petronet LNG Foundation. A total of 500 food coupons are distributed daily to beneficiaries across the district as part of the project.
The pilot project was inaugurated by Minister of Industries A.C Moideen on Jan 26, 2018. A total of 100 coupons were distributed on a daily basis to the needy in the first phase through counters set up at Collectorate and South railway station.
From May 11 onwards, a total of 300 coupons per day were distributed to the needy across the district. From July 1 onwards, 500 coupons are provided from across twenty different counters in the district. Thirty nine hotels too are roped in as part of the project. Currently, coupons are available from Kochi Taluk Office, Vypin-Malippuram CHC, Kunnathunadu Taluk Office, Paravur Taluk Office, Aluva KSRTC Stand (Police Aid Post), Ernakulam KSRTC Stand (Police Aid Post), Moovattupuzha Police Aid Post (Kacherithazham), Kothamangalam Private Bus Stand, Ernakulam North Railway Station, Angamaly Railway Station, Vyttila Hub (Aid Post), Perumbavoor Municipal Office, Kanayannur Taluk Office, Mattanchery Govt Hospital, Moovattupuzha Taluk, Angamaly KSRTC Stand, Moovattupuzha KSRTC Stand and Piravom Govt Hospital.
Coupons are available every day including holidays between 12pm and 2pm and free meal is available at hotels between 12pm and 2.30pm.
